FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which Chilean banks are supported?

Penso imports PDF statements from Banco Santander, Itaú, Banco de Chile, Banco Falabella, and Banco Security. It also syncs transactions automatically from Itaú, Banco de Chile, Falabella, and Security (Santander coming soon).

How do I import my statement from Santander, Itaú, or another bank?

Download your statement as a PDF from your bank's website and upload it to Penso. The parser detects the bank and format automatically, extracts every transaction, skips duplicates, and categorizes them with your rules. If the format isn't recognized, an AI extractor processes it as a fallback.

Is it safe to upload my bank statement to Penso?

Yes. Data travels encrypted over HTTPS and bank credentials are stored encrypted; your financial data is never sold or shared with third parties. You can also enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your account.

Does Penso sell my data?

No. Penso does not sell or share your financial data with third parties; it is free and its model does not depend on monetizing your information. The details are in the privacy policy.

Is Penso free?

Yes. Penso is free, requires no credit card, and you can start using it in minutes.

How is Penso different from Fintonic or Monefy?

Penso is built for Chile: it reads PDF statements from Chilean banks, works in Chilean pesos (CLP), understands installment purchases, and detects local subscriptions. It is also free and works offline.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. Penso is a PWA you can install as an app on iOS and Android straight from the browser, no app store needed. It works offline: transactions you add without a connection sync when you reconnect.

Can I migrate from Money Manager or Excel?

Yes. Penso imports transactions from CSV or Excel files and has a dedicated Money Manager migration that keeps your accounts and categories.

Can I log expenses via Telegram?

Yes. Penso includes a Telegram bot that understands natural language: type "uber 5400" and the expense is logged and categorized. You can also ask it for your balance by chat, and if you link the bot, Penso alerts you on Telegram when new transactions arrive and something looks off: exceeded budgets, spending above your average, or installments about to end.

Can I share my finances with my family or team?

Yes. Penso lets you share a space with other people and assign roles (owner, admin, editor, or viewer) to control who can view or edit.

Can I connect Penso to ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Penso ships an official MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector: you authorize access with your account and can then ask Claude or ChatGPT about your spending, budgets, debts, and investments in natural language, and even log transactions with confirmation. You can revoke access anytime from settings.

What does Penso's AI do with my data?

Three things: it reads your bank statement when the format is not recognized (as a fallback to the per-bank parsers), suggests categories for your spending when none of your rules match, and generates natural-language analysis of your finances. The AI is a tool inside the app, not an autonomous advisor: it does not make decisions for you or move your money.

Is it safe to connect my AI assistant to Penso?

Access is yours and under your control: you authorize it with OAuth on a consent screen, it operates only on your own space, and irreversible operations require your explicit confirmation in the conversation. The connector never sees your bank passwords, and Penso does not sell or share your financial data.

How do I revoke Claude's or ChatGPT's access to my data?

From Penso, in Settings → Connectors: there you see every client you authorized and can revoke any of them in one click. A revoked connector loses its authorization and would have to ask for your consent again to reconnect.

What can a connected AI assistant NOT do in Penso?

It cannot see your bank passwords (no connector tool exposes them), cannot access other people's spaces, cannot delete data without your explicit confirmation, and cannot move your money: Penso is not a bank, does not hold funds, and does not execute payments or bank transfers.
